Doesn't the fact that DNA repairs mutations disprove evolution?
I know this isn't the only factor in the THEORY.
In a Scientific American magazine ( date unknown) it said when breeding mutated flies, over a number of generations, normal fruit flies began to hatch. If left in wild or unattened the normal fruit flies would dominate the normal fruit flies. It also stated that mutated DNA repairs itself over a number of generations.
For us to have evolved or organisms also, shouldn't we be able to retain mutations.
Since a Scientific American article you can't identify is the only evidence you cite, you really need to get more precise with your citation.
I've had a subscription to Scientific American on and off for years (my favorite magazine) ... and it's possible I missed something ... but I don't remember any such article about fruit flies showing how DNA can "repair" mutations *over generations*. (We've long known about DNA's ability to repair mutations *at the time of replication* ... but this repair mechanism is not perfect, which is why mutations occur.)
It is possible that "normal" fruit flies, when bred with "abnormal" ones, will slowly eradicate the "abnormal" mutations through cross-breeding ... but that is not DNA "repairing" itself, but just normal natural selection ... i.e. *evolution*. (I.e. this is precisely the *opposite* of "disproving" evolution). So it sounds like you've completely misread the article.
But without some better information about the article, you are just asking us to take your word on something as a key piece of evidence that "disproves" evolution! You have to do better than that in a science forum.
