Watch For Red Flags When Making Hiring Decisions
Making better informed hiring decisions is easy when you know the RED FLAGS to look for. Watch for RED FLAGS on the resume or application.
- They omit their social security number which could be a sign that they don't want you to pull their background chec
- They give a P.O. Box instead of an address which could mean that they move around a lot and don't have a permanent address.
- They don't have a home telephone number which could also be a sign that they are trasient.
- They admit to having a criminal history or they leave the box blank when asked on the application which should be a big RED FLAG to all employers.
- They admit that they don't have their own transportation and will have to rely on others for rides to and from work. Which could lead to attendance issues
RED FLAGS in the work history
- They don't give dates of employment only years
- They have gaps in their employment or refer to those gaps as periods of time where they were self employed.
- All of their previous jobs have last months instead of years.
- They list significantly higher pay rates than you know are usual for that industry.
- They inflate their job titles and or job descriptions.
- Their resume shows decreased responsibilities and pay rates over time.
- They use words like "odd jobs" and "worked under the table"
- They fail to list previous supervisors names
- They Check off NO to "May we contact your previous employers".
If you Keep an eye out for these RED FLAGS and you WILL make better hiring decisions every time.
