Has anybody had a successful marriage after dating a military man for a very short amount of time? Stories!?
I fyou have a successful marriage, unsuccessful marriage or any stories about marrying military im interested.
I am getting married next week to the most amazing, gorgeous man in the world. I'm just interested in other's stories of success, love, failure, an just being married to military in general.
Don't lecture either, I know this is serious business and what I am gettin myself into.
Being married to someone in the military can mean:
--long separations, sometimes at a moment's notice, leaving you to be a "functionally single parent" (meaning, you have his pay, but not physical support), lonely nights spent worrying about his safety...for up to a year or more at a time
--opportunities to travel the globe. DH gets stationed in Germany, Korea, Japan (the biggies) or one of the other ones and you get to follow--take advantage and enjoy the opportunity that so many people do not get
--excellent health benefits. Yeah, sometimes Tricare sux, but they cover pretty much everything, so if you have a preexisting condition or have a child with special needs, you are taken care of.
To be a sucessful military wife involves having an independant streak a mile long and two miles wide considering you will likely be far away from your family and he'll be far away on his missions. Depend on your friends, but avoid those women who, as soon as hubby steps on the plane, are out at the club.
